How to Change Wi-Fi on a Vivint Panel and Cameras
To change Wi-Fi on Vivint, reconnect the Smart Hub to the new network and the cameras follow it: disarm, open General settings with your PIN, tap Connectivity, then WiFi, choose the new network, and enter the password. Smart Hubs connect only to 5 GHz networks, and the panel can take up to 5 minutes to reconnect. Alarm monitoring keeps working over cellular the whole time. This guide covers what to prepare, the panel steps for both hub models, the cameras, and what keeps working.

Before You Start
Have 3 things ready: the new network name and password, a router broadcasting a 5 GHz band (the Smart Hub will not join a 2.4 GHz-only network), and about 10 minutes at home with the system disarmed.
If the new router combines both bands under one name and the panel cannot see it, Vivint's advanced troubleshooting suggests temporarily turning off the router's low-frequency band in its app.
Panel Steps
The steps differ slightly between the 2 hub models; both take 5 to 7 minutes.
| Step | Smart Hub | Smart Hub Pro 2 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Disarm with your PIN | Disarm with your PIN |
| 2 | Menu icon, bottom right | Settings in the bottom toolbar (swipe left if hidden) |
| 3 | General under Smart Home Settings, enter PIN | General under Smart Home Settings, enter PIN |

Camera Steps
Vivint cameras connect through the panel, so once the panel is on the new network they rejoin on their own; any camera still offline after 10 minutes needs a 30-second power restart, and Outdoor Camera Pro Gen 3 models restart through their Wi-Fi bridge.
The camera offline guide has the full 7-step fix list.
What Keeps Working During the Change
Alarm monitoring keeps working the entire time because the hub sends alarms over its built-in cellular radio; cameras, the app's live video, and Wi-Fi smart devices pause until the panel reconnects.
The Wi-Fi and cellular guide explains which features need which connection.
