What Vivint Smart Home Is
Vivint smart home means every device pairs to the Smart Hub and can trigger or respond to any other device or to arming; a DIY smart home needs separate apps and a bridge for the same result, and the monitoring centre has no part in it.

In order of use:
- Arm Away: lock all doors, close the garage, lights off, thermostat to the away setting.
- Disarm with a family code: unlock the front door, hallway light on, thermostat to comfort.
- Doorbell camera sees a person after dark: porch light on for 5 minutes.
- Goodnight scene: arm Stay, lock doors, interior lights off.
- Water sensor alert: notify a second contact and, in winter, raise the heat.
What It Adds to Cost
Smart home devices add equipment cost only: a lock, thermostat, garage controller, and two plugs come to $529.99 at retail or $8.83/mo over 60 months; the monthly plan stays at $24.99 unless cameras are added, which moves it to $44.99.

Integrations
Vivint links to Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice, Philips Hue for lighting, Nest and some Ecobee thermostats, and most Z-Wave locks, switches, and plugs; it does not support Apple HomeKit. The works-with list gives the table.
