Guide by an independent Vivint Authorized Dealer
Moving With Vivint: Fees, Options and the Military Waiver
Moving a Vivint system costs $149 for professional removal and $149 for reinstallation at the new home, with both fees waived for military members deployed 90 days or longer, according to Vivint's Moves Program Policy. This guide lists the 3 move options with their costs, the 5 steps to schedule a move, what happens to the contract and financing, and when a $99 contract transfer is cheaper than moving the system.
Prices and terms verified October 7, 2026. Vivint sets all prices; dealer promotions are listed separately.
How Much Does It Cost to Move a Vivint System?
Moving a Vivint system costs $298 when Vivint removes and reinstalls it ($149 plus $149), $149 when you remove the equipment yourself under the Basic Move option, and $0 for military members relocating for a deployment of 90 days or longer.
| Option | Removal | Reinstall | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Move (you remove) | $0 | $149 | $149 |
| Full Move (Vivint removes) | $149 | $149 | $298 |
| Military deployment ≥ 90 days | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| New system at new home | Not needed | Included with new agreement | New equipment quote |
How Do You Schedule a Vivint Move?
To schedule a Vivint move, follow the 5 steps below: call Vivint's Moves team at least 2 weeks before the move date, choose Basic or Full Move, confirm the new address is serviceable, book the removal and reinstall appointments, and keep the Smart Hub powered until removal day so the account stays active.
The 5 steps in order:
- Call Vivint Moves (800-216-5232, option 3 then 2) 2 or more weeks ahead.
- Choose Basic Move (you uninstall) or Full Move (technician uninstalls).
- Confirm the new address is serviceable; the service areas pages list availability by state.
- Book both appointments; reinstall happens within days of move-in in most metro areas.
- Leave the hub powered and armed until the removal appointment to avoid a false alarm from disconnection.
What Happens to the Vivint Contract and Financing When You Move?
The Vivint monitoring agreement and any Flex Pay financing continue unchanged when you move, because both attach to you rather than to the house; the move fees are the only added cost, and the contract page states the remaining-balance rule if you cancel instead.
Is It Cheaper to Transfer the Contract Than to Move the System?
Yes, transferring the contract to the buyer of your home for $99 is cheaper than the $298 Full Move, and Vivint waives the $99 fee when the buyer signs a new agreement; the equipment stays installed and the seller's obligation ends on the transfer date.
Transfer suits sellers whose buyer wants the system; moving suits owners who want to keep equipment they have paid off.
