Vivint Equipment Warranty: Coverage, Length and Claims
Vivint's Standard Limited Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for 120 days after installation; during that window a technician repairs or replaces faulty installed equipment at no cost. After 120 days each service visit costs $99, unless you pay monthly for the optional Vivint Complete Protection Plan, which removes the technician fee for eligible repairs. This guide covers what is covered, how long, the service fees, 5 exclusions, and how to claim.

What the Warranty Covers
The Standard Limited Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship of Vivint-installed equipment: Vivint repairs or replaces faulty components that need professional installation at no cost, and ships replacement parts for devices you can install yourself, where standard shipping may apply.
Vivint can use new, refurbished, or functionally equivalent equipment for repairs and replacements.
How Long the Warranty Lasts
The warranty lasts 120 days from the day installation is completed; after that, coverage continues only through the optional Vivint Complete Protection Plan, which stays active as long as the plan is paid and in good standing.
Some state laws extend warranty terms or limit the exclusions Vivint can apply, so your customer agreement and state law decide the final terms.
Service Fees
A service visit costs $0 in the first 120 days and $99 per visit after that, with a 60-day guarantee: if the same problem returns within 60 days, the technician comes back free.
| Situation | Technician visit | Replacement part |
|---|---|---|
| First 120 days after install | $0 | $0 for a defect |
| After 120 days, no plan | $99 per visit | Replacement cost may apply |
| After 120 days, Complete Protection Plan | $0 for eligible service | $0 for eligible covered equipment |
| Same issue again within 60 days of a visit | $0 | Per the rules above |

The Complete Protection Plan
The Vivint Complete Protection Plan is an optional monthly add-on that covers repair or replacement of eligible equipment, removes the technician fee for eligible on-site service, ships self-install replacements free, covers eligible power-surge failures, and routes your calls to priority support.
It is worth it when the system has several cameras and you expect more than one visit in a few years; at $99 a visit, two visits cost $198.
5 Things the Warranty Does Not Cover
Neither the warranty nor the plan covers these 5 things.
Exclusions:
- Batteries, light bulbs, and other consumables.
- Damage from misuse, abuse, neglect, or unauthorised changes.
- Accidents and acts of nature such as storms or floods.
- Repairs or alterations by anyone other than Vivint.
- Damage that has nothing to do with a defect in the equipment or its installation.
How to Make a Claim
Making a claim takes 3 steps: contact Vivint Support by chat in the app or Account Center or by phone, troubleshoot with the agent, then book a technician visit if the device needs repair or replacement; an adult aged 18 or over must be home for the visit.
Your Vivint contract states the warranty terms that apply to your system.
