Vivint Garage Door Control: Price and Compatible Openers

Vivint garage door control adds the garage to the app and the panel so you can open, close, and check the door from anywhere and have it close automatically when the system arms. The controller costs $100 and works with more than 90% of existing openers; Chamberlain and LiftMaster myQ openers connect through a myQ integration instead. This page covers the price, compatibility, the 3 automations, and what the technician checks.

Prices and terms verified October 7, 2026. Vivint sets all prices; dealer promotions are listed separately.

What Does the Garage Door Controller Do?

The controller attaches to the opener and a tilt sensor on the door, reports open or closed status to the Smart Hub, and lets the app, the panel, voice assistants, and automations operate the door; an open door at night or after arming triggers a notification.

How Much Does Vivint Garage Door Control Cost?

The Vivint garage door controller costs $100 at retail or $1.67/mo over 60 months; Vivint has also offered a $50 myQ integration for Chamberlain and LiftMaster owners and a $99 myQ hub for other brands, so the quote states which route your opener needs.

Which Garage Door Openers Work?

Vivint states the controller works with more than 90% of existing openers, and the panel needs firmware 2.3 or newer. The exceptions are openers with proprietary security protocols that block external controllers, which the technician identifies from the opener model during the walkthrough.

What Automations Use the Garage?

The garage joins 3 automations: close when the system arms Away, close at a set time each night if left open, and open when the system disarms from the car with Car Guard or a geofence; each sends a confirmation to the app.

The Vivint Car Guard guide explains the car-based triggers.
