Vivint Panel Beeping: Causes and How to Stop It
A Vivint panel beeps to report a problem: a low battery in a sensor or the panel, a power cut, a tampered sensor, a lost connection, an entry-delay countdown, or a door chime. To stop it, tap the alert on the Smart Hub screen, read it, and tap the back arrow; that acknowledges the alert. If the cause is not fixed, the panel beeps again after 8 hours. This guide tables the 6 causes, gives the fix for each, explains silencing versus fixing, and says when to call.

The 6 Causes
The table lists each cause, what the panel shows, and the fix.
| Cause | What you see | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Low sensor battery | A low-battery alert naming the sensor | Put the system in test mode and replace the battery |
| Low panel battery | Panel low-battery alert, often after a power cut | Restore power; the battery recharges and the alert clears |
| AC power loss | Power-loss alert | Check the outlet and breaker; the hub runs up to 24 hours on battery |
| Sensor tamper | Tamper alert naming the sensor | Refit the sensor cover or mount |
| Communication trouble | A trouble or connection alert | Reboot the panel; check Wi-Fi; contact support if it persists |
| Entry delay or chime | Countdown beeps or a chime when a door opens | Disarm within the 30-second default; chimes are a setting, not a fault |
The Fix for Each
Each fix takes under 15 minutes. Acknowledge the alert first so the beeping stops while you work.
For a sensor battery, disarm the system, open Menu, then Security, enter your PIN, and tap System test; the panel beeps during the test, and you can open sensors without sending an alarm. For the panel battery, restore AC power and give it time to recharge. If the panel shows a low battery right after a power cut and does not recover, the backup battery may have failed and support replaces it.
Smoke detectors beep on their own when their batteries run low, separately from the panel; the smoke and CO detector page lists the battery type.
Silencing vs Fixing
Acknowledging an alert silences the panel for 8 hours but does not fix anything: the alert stays on screen and the beeping returns until the battery is replaced, power is back, or the sensor is refitted.
When to Call Vivint
Call Vivint support when the same alert returns after a fix, when the panel battery does not recover after power returns, or when a communication trouble alert lasts more than a day; a technician visit is free for 120 days after installation and $99 after that.
The power outage guide covers what keeps working while the panel runs on battery.
