What Is in a Vivint Quote? 7 Lines and How to Compare

A Vivint quote lists 7 things: each piece of equipment and its price, the monitoring plan, the agreement term, the installation charge or waiver, the financing term and monthly payment, any promotion applied, and the upfront and monthly totals. A quote is free and not binding; nothing is owed until you sign the agreement, and you then have 3 days to cancel. This guide explains the 7 lines, the 5 questions you will be asked, how to compare 2 quotes fairly, and what happens next.

The 7 Lines on a Vivint Quote

A complete quote shows these 7 lines; if one is missing, ask for it before you compare.

What a quote lists
LineWhat to check
1. EquipmentEvery device with its own price, from the hub to each sensor and camera
2. Monitoring plan$24.99 without cameras, $44.99 with cameras
3. Agreement term36 months, or month to month if you pay for equipment upfront
4. InstallationNormally $199; currently waived for new customers
5. FinancingTerm in months, APR (0% on approval), and the monthly payment
6. PromotionsWhich offer is applied and its conditions
7. TotalsDue today, monthly for monitoring, monthly for financing

The 5 Questions You Will Be Asked

Expect these 5 questions; having the answers ready gets an accurate quote in one call.

The questions:

  1. Your ZIP code and home type, which decide availability and permit rules.
  2. Whether you own or rent, which decides drilling and smart lock options.
  3. How many exterior doors and ground-floor windows you want covered.
  4. Whether you want cameras, and where: front door, driveway, back yard, indoors.
  5. Whether you will pay upfront or finance, since financing runs a credit check.

How to Compare Two Quotes

Compare quotes on the 36-month total, not the monthly figure: add the upfront payment, 36 months of monitoring, and 36 months of financing, then check that both quotes list the same devices and the same term.

Example: equipment of $599.99 financed over 60 months plus $44.99 monitoring is $10.00/mo plus $44.99 a month. Over 36 months that is about $1,980, before the remaining financing balance.

The Vivint pricing page has the list prices to check each line against, and the deals page shows which promotions are current.

Dealer Quote vs Buying Direct

A dealer quote and a vivint.com quote cover the same equipment, the same Vivint monitoring, and the same Vivint technicians; the difference is who walks you through it and which dealer promotions can be added on top.

The dealer vs direct guide lists 5 differences, and the About page explains who we are.

Next Step

The next step is a short form with your ZIP code and contact details; we call back with a quote that lists all 7 lines, and nothing is booked until you agree to an install date.
